General FAQs

Some people think that trauma= catastrophic events. Trauma isn’t about what happened, it’s how your nervous system learned to respond because of what happened. For most people, it’s also about what happens when your nervous system learns to stay on alert in order to maintain connection, avoid conflict, or feel safe.
Over time, those protective patterns can show up as relationship struggles in adulthood—especially in close partnerships, family dynamics, or group settings.
Trauma-informed therapy focuses on helping your nervous system update these patterns—not just by talking about them, but by working with how they live in your body, emotions, and reactions in real time.
This is why relational concerns—whether you’re working individually, as a couple, or in a group—are often deeply connected to trauma, even when they don’t initially look that way.

Rather than offering traditional sliding-scale rates for individual therapy, we’ve utilize Group EMDR Therapy (G-TEP) as our primary way of making evidence-based trauma care more accessible.
Group EMDR allows individuals to engage in structured trauma processing at a lower cost, without needing to share details of their experiences out loud. This format is clinically sound and intentionally designed for people who may not need—or may not be able to access—ongoing individual trauma therapy.
Group EMDR can be a good fit if you:
Are seeking affordable, evidence-based trauma therapy
Are on a waitlist and need support now
Prefer not to talk about your trauma aloud
Want a flexible way to work on what comes up, as it comes up
If you’re unsure whether Group EMDR or another format would be the best fit, we can explore options together during a consultation.
